If Havasupai Falls has made it to your travel bucket list, you are in for a treat. However, you want to ensure you make your trip during the best time of the year when you can enjoy and appreciate everything this stunning destination has to offer.

Located just outside the Grand Canyon on the Havasupai Indian Reservation is the breathtaking Havasupai Falls or (Havasu Falls), an absolute beauty to behold. Havasu Falls is one of four major waterfalls on the reservation.

The destination is most well-known for its alluring blue-green colored water; in fact, Havasupai means "people of the blue-green water." Reaching Havasupai Falls begins with a 4-5 hour trip to the trailhead from Lake Havasu City.

Once at the trailhead, visitors begin their hike to Havasupai Falls, which stretches approximately ten miles. It is a strenuous journey, but it is well worth it for hikers at all levels, whether experienced or novice.

When Is the Best Time to Visit Havasupai Falls?

Before we delve into the best times to visit Havasupai Falls, it's worth mentioning that this destination is open all year round, with its tourist season opening in February, stretching through to November, and peaking between May and September.

However, the best time to visit Havasupai Falls mainly depends on preferences. You can enjoy the main activities like camping and hiking all year round, but you want to be mindful of the weather conditions of each season.

Spring and Fall

Early spring (March/April) and late fall (October/November) are fantastic times to hike to Havasupai Falls. The sleeping conditions are also excellent during this time due to less heat but expect the water to be cooler.

Summer

The summer months of June through August are often engulfed in extreme heat. Hiking trips can be more difficult due to such weather conditions, which don't cool off significantly at night.

Summer at Havasupai Falls also coincides with the monsoon season, where heavy rainfall can cause flash floods. In such instances, visitors are evacuated.

If you still want to visit Havasupai Falls in the summer, plan your hikes early in the morning when it's cooler. Also note that throughout the year, the water temperature at the base of the fall averages between 60-70 degrees Fahrenheit.

Winter

During the winter season, Havasupai Falls tends to be empty. It's an excellent season for hiking to the falls and other parts of the Grand Canyon; however, note that the days are shorter and can get quite cold.
